Bernadette (Bernie) Durman is a business strategy and marketing leader. Bernie brings her strategic thinking and customer perspective to every engagement. Her collaborative approach yields transformational results.
Bernie is the president and principal consultant for Clarity Business Advisors LLC. After a distinguished career at Xerox contributing to the transformation of key businesses, she left to create a consulting practice; to focus on helping organizations establish or improve existing business processes. Her MBA and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification and 30+ years of progressive responsibilities provided her with the skills to help the client prepare strategically for growth opportunities associated with new products, changing markets, automation opportunities, and acquisitions.
In her last role with Xerox she was Global Director, Lean Six Sigma. When the Corporate Lean Six Sigma office closed, with a colleague created the Xerox Enterprise-wide LSS Steering Committee. This LSS Steering Committee not only kept Lean Six Sigma alive but thriving certifying 150 MBB, BB, GB candidates leading 600+ projects that delivered over $16M in savings over 2 yrs. This team effort won the Greater Rochester Quality Council Gold Award.
Bernie held a variety of senior management roles including: marketing integration, product management, product marketing, strategy and pricing where she worked her way up to VP, Marketing . When Xerox reduced marketing headcount and investments, Bernie turned to Lean Six Sigma where she improved the marketing processes earning her Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. She is recognized for stellar performance in Lean Six Sigma and was often sought out to lead cross organizational projects, as she has developed a solid reputation for solving complex business problems. She is on the Greater Rochester Quality Council (GRQC) board and leads the Lean Six Sigma Consortium where quality driven companies come together to share, learn and improve. She was a 2010 Athena finalist recognizing her contributions to business and the community including her leadership role in Operation FoodBasket. The internationally known Athena Award Program honors outstanding professional women who have achieved exceptional levels of business accomplishment, community involvement and mentoring women—all areas in which Bernie contributes passion and leadership.
Bernie earned an MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology and completed Smith College’s Management Program. She is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and an accredited Belbin® Profiles Coach and Trainer.
